POSITION: Entry Level and/or Lateral Police Officer - Full-Time, Regular, Non-Exempt, Represented Position.

SALARY RANGE: $70,608 - $94,632 annually. Pay is commensurate with education, experience, and training. Incentives available.

GENERAL STATEMENT
Performs law enforcement and crime prevention through patrol and investigations, manages traffic, enforces state and local traffic regulations and other ordinances and laws, protects the life and property of the citizens of Gladstone, and performs other related law enforcement activities.

QUALIFICATIONS & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent, with a two-year community college degree or vocational training in Police Science, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.
Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of hire.
Must be a citizen of the United States within 18 months of employment or a nonimmigrant legally admitted under a Compact of Free Association.
Must be able to speak, read, and write in English; bilingual ability in Spanish is preferred.
Must possess or be able to obtain by time of hire a valid Oregon Driver's License with a good driving record.
Must successfully pass a criminal history background check and meet the City's security clearance standards for unescorted access to certain City facilities.
ELIGIBILITY
Preference is given to lateral candidates. To qualify as a lateral applicant, candidates must currently be certified as an Oregon Police Officer, have successfully completed a minimum of a twelve (12) month probationary period, and possess at least two (2) years of full-time on-the-job experience. NTN Testing and ORPAT requirements are waived for Oregon lateral candidates.

Out-of-state lateral candidates must take and pass the NTN examination before advancing in the process and must be eligible to become Oregon certified by attending the 80-hour Police Career Officer's Development Course offered by the Department of Police Safety Standards and Training (DPSST).

Entry-level candidates are required to complete the National Testing Network (NTN) FrontLine National Exam and ORPAT certification. Visit the National Testing Network website for more information on testing locations, requirements, and fee schedules.

The City of Gladstone only accepts written and reading exams through the NTN. Passing scores are 70% for both the written/reading exam and the video exam.
