POSITION OVERVIEW
The Compliance Officer works in partnership with the Director of Compliance to safeguard our institutional integrity through meticulous oversight of regulatory requirements. This role is essential to maintaining our standing with state licensing authorities, programmatic agencies, and accrediting bodies while ensuring our operations meet or exceed all applicable standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Regulatory Documentation - Prepare and submit comprehensive accreditation applications, substantive/non-substantive changes, and required reports to governing bodies
Process Development - Create and refine compliance procedures for academic departments to ensure consistent adherence to standards
Internal Auditing - Conduct thorough reviews to verify compliance with Illinois regulations, programmatic standards, and federal requirements
Audit Preparation - Lead readiness initiatives for state, licensing, and accreditor visits, ensuring all documentation and processes meet expectations
Regulatory Monitoring - Track Illinois governmental regulations and implement necessary policy updates
Cross-Departmental Collaboration - Work with various departments to address regulatory concerns and ensure institution-wide compliance
Documentation Management - Perform systematic file reviews and manage compliance-related correspondence
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Regulatory Affairs, Compliance, or related field
Minimum 5 years of higher education compliance experience, specifically with Illinois regulations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Applications
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation
Strong multitasking abilities with proven deadline management in fast-paced environments
Meticulous attention to detail and critical thinking skills
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Capacity to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
Preferred:
Experience with regulatory and accrediting bodies (IBHE, ACCSC, ABHES, CVTEA, BON, JRC-DMS)
Familiarity with CampusNexus systems
